Predators

We plan to eradicate all small tree climbing pests from the Elaine Bay to French Pass and Bulwer/Port Ligar areas.
There will be no aerial dispersions of any toxins; instead we will use no toxic methods of trapping.
The main tree climbing predators we will be targeting are:

  • Possums,
  • Stoats,
  • Weasels,
  • Rats,
  • and feral cats.

Wild pigs and deer will not be targeted, as we are confident that they can be effectively controlled by the local active hunting community.
Given current technology, our intentions are that mice will not initially be targeted over the entire area, but will be removed in core ‘sanctuary’ areas.
As new technology is developed and becomes available, we will explore the possibility to eradicate mice over the entire two peninsulas.
